don't think you are snobby
just maybe have to change expectations for a bit and maybe forgo a holiday or so to get the debts down
am in the process of ending borrowing to live so I can be debt free one day
its scary carrying that amount of cc debt coz life can throw unexpected things at us£12 799 debt 16.10.2009 :eek:0 -
Problem is (and this is the snobby part), with only a few hundred pounds left each much we can't really save for a decent holiday (please don't strike me down!!).
Sorry I'm striking you down, camping holidays in North Wales this time of the year are quite cheap, but I don't think I would inflict you on the lovely locals in that area:p0 -
I've checked her posts and they all relate to taking out more loans, if you ask me you're making a mockery of the people on this site who are genuinely trying to sort their debts out... tut tut:mad::mad:OK - this is going to sound very snobby and spoilt!! We currently have around £112k in debts spread over loans and credit cards etc. The issue is that we are comfortably paying the loan payments and credit cards and still have a couple of hundred pounds left each month after all our bills etc. are paid. Problem is (and this is the snobby part), with only a few hundred pounds left each much we can't really save for a decent holiday (please don't strike me down!!). Is there a good way to get this debt down quickly?

OP obviously wanted us to say "get a loan for your holiday" ...
When I posted earlier in the thread, I was sort of sympathetic because going away on too many fancy short breaks was part of the reason for me getting into financial doodah. Having had my lightbulb moment, I know the credit cards were paying for these rather than me.
Now I just want to go :mad::mad::mad::mad: ... which isn't very caring sharing of me!Debt Jan 2008: £45,566. *** June 2013: DEBT FREE! ***
Paid back just under £50,000 due to some interest added.
Dealt with my debt through a Step Change (CCCS) DMP.

I don't want to sound mean, but a few hundred a month = £3.5k a year. The thinking that you can't get a decent holiday for that much is what's led to so much debt!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Thanks for your replies. I don't get to come on here very often, which is why I haven't replied. Your responses are all very good and I need time to digest them, please.
I had posted on here previously about loans, got one, then things went wrong and started re-using credit cards. I'm not at my credit limit yet, but just paying off the minimum payments.
Will do the SOA thing and post it.0 -
Do that, increased borrowing is a one way route to nowhere. It seems you are getting to the point where yo uare using one debt to pay off another, and you want to run away from it all? Ive been there.
needless to say, its not pretty and can go one of 2 ways. You either pay your debt off or manage it the DFW way or you may well go under.
Please take the first option, its a lot better all round. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
