Do you have access to one of those mini-ovens? I used one of those, acquired, second-hand, when my main cooker was declared 'unuseable' by my annual gas service engineer.

    Similar to this one: http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/401021/RUSSELL-HOBBS-13824-13824-10

I've since loaned it out on a few occasions and it always comes back to me ;) - currently languishing in my OH's own flat as he spends very little time there, but it comes in handy when needed.
  • A simple but tasty one pot meal is batchelors beef rice mixed with a tin of tuna, sweetcorn & some hot pepper sauce added to taste. Sounds a bit wierd I know but does taste nice.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
1 tin of beans, 1 tin of tomatoes, 1 tin of minced beef

chop the tomatoes in the tin using the knife. Mix the contents of all tins together in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper, add herbs to taste.

This mixture is edible cold, can be heated on a ring or in the microwave, served alone with bread or with any sort of potato, pasta, chips from the chippie, with green veg or have fresh fruit before and/or after.

It's an old Girl Guide recipe, very adaptable and filling.
