Boots Interview - Advice??

Hi guys hope this is the right place to put this?? If not hopefully some nice BG will move it :D

Anyways, after lots n lots of jobhunting lately i've started applying for xmas temp jobs in my local shopping centre so I will have pennies for santa. Just got an email from Boots and have booked an interview with them tomorrow :j

Although I have worked all during Uni, both my jobs were through people I knew so I have never had an intervew before

I know Im well qualified and experienced to do this job, but Im soo scared about the interview and was hoping there would be some people who had been for an interview with them before that could give me some advice on what to expect??

TIA

  • Hi I am a Christmas temp at Boots.

The interview is informal and fun which involves simple shop floor exercises such as handling out baskets, packing bags, selecting a item of medicine and simple display. I would make sure that you have your answer ready about why you want to work for Boots.

    Good luck

Hi, I recently went for an interview at a Boots store.

I applied online and was emailed to say Mrs X will interview you at 2.30pm etc etc

Arrived few minutes early, noone waiting so approached one of the no 7 girls who went upstairs to find someone, then came back and took me through. Sat in the little staff room with staff members eating their lunch for about 15 minutes until a man came out and shook my hand and took me down to the shop floor.

Apparently most people don't get past the online test thing so at my interview they wanted to see how you are on the shop floor. I had to act as a greeter handing out baskets etc at the door, help someone on the tills by bagging peoples purchases (which was a bit of a nightmare as the second customer put the wrong pin in 3 times, had a query about points which the sa was so not interested in etc etc but all the others were very straight forward) and also was asked to have a quick look round the store and come back and tell him about parts that I didn't think looked up to scratch and find the cheapest paracetomol.

That was about it, apart from starting 25 mins late with someone completely different to I was told, it was ok. I'm sure your store will be more on the ball though :) Good luck, hope you get it.
  • Thanks Paris 5000 :A

That put my mind at rest, Im sure I can handle an informal interview like that - having worked in shops all my working life it should be a walk in the park :rotfl:

Hmm....I want to work there cause I need the pennies :P just kidding. Thanks for the advice

I know, isn't it the worst question ever? Why does anyone want to work in a shop as an xmas temp? "I feel that by gaining a job in Boots over the Christmas season I will be aiding world peace and making a stride forward for human rights" :D
  • Aww thanks mum24 - sounds like a bit of a pain for you all the waiting around first but all in all a pretty straightforward interview.

Yea the Boots Im going to is huge so hopefully they are well organised for this - there was only 2 interview slots available so I think I may be in with a good shot, fingers crossed.

They haven't given me name of who will be doing the interview so I take it I should just ask a sa to find out.

Hope you got the job :D

I got a part time job at Boots a couple of years ago, the shop exercises were helped by me already knowing the layout of the store through shopping there - so take a wander around the store see where everything is and also take a look at what christmas goodies are out at the moment. Hope it goes well. I really enjoyed working at Boots -the discounts are also ace.

When I worked there is was 12.5% on non boots stuff and 22.5% off boots own brand including No. 7. Not sure how this applies to temps.
A big thank you to everyone who contibutes to the MSE forums :T
  • Thanks Bubblybee - Im in there all the time, use the pharmacy and buy way too much make-up (its too hard to resist lol)

Ooh I think the discount will make the wage go very quickly lol :P

  • I did the interview the other week, its fine. If you have worked in a shop before and are fine approaching people you will find the interview easy. I had to go on the shop floor and hand out Xmas books. I also ended up helping a customer with a face cream query and had to say what was wrong with some of the shelves.

I was offered the job (Xmas temp) but declined as I was offered another job elsewhere and I had worked for this other company before. Had I not been offered this other job I would have taken the Boots job, they seemed really nice.

    Good luck, you'll be fine.
  • Does anyone know if Boots stick to the same methods for interview?

Ive just had a call 5 mins ago and have to go to an interview tonight at 5pm...

I put in to work as a stock replenisher for xmas, the lady on the phone said a position has come up on a wk to wk basis to cover sick leave so I dont know what to expect when I get there...

Any ideas whether the interview process for operations is different to sales?
