Anyone know where might be a good, cheap, place to get this? The local dealer quoted 100 pounds.

Depending on age make etc. dealer may be your only option. Worth checking Havlins in Belfast but nowadays the keys have a chip which needs to be programmed to operate the immobiliser.

I know the Locksmiths in Portadown can produce a duplicate key inclusive of chips.
I lost my spare key and called them no problem just need to bring the key and car with me so they can programme the new key.
They quoted around £60-£90 approx. My car is VW and 3 year old!!

My local village shoe repairer/ key shop cut mine for £4.50. It's not got a battery so I can't use it for the automatic central locking but it central locks manually and starts the engine. This is for a 3yr old Matiz (?sp). Dealer cost was £110
