in Cutting tax
I rang the tax office about 2 weeks ago to get my tax code changed from BR on my main job. They said they'd backdate the tax on that job to the start of the financial year meaning i'm due a nice rebate ( I think i've been over paying by about £25 per week). Anyway- I had the tax code notification though a few days back but my current payslip (issued after the date of the notification) remain on the same tax code.
How long does the tax code change take...and how long do you recon i'll have to wait for the rebate through PAYE.

what is the new tax code?
as soon as the tax code is applied then the tax is recalculated and you will be tax properly.. i.e. you get a tax rebate
depends upon your employer applying the changes but should be next pay.0 -
It's changing to 647L I think.0

647L is the 'normal' tax code for this year
if you're concerned ask your payroll people if they have received your new taxcode.0 -
The application of the new tax code by your employer all depends on when they received the new code and when they do their payroll run. If they had already done the run before the new code arrived then you have to wait until your next pay. Many employers who pay monthly do the payroll run half way through the month. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It's done automatically through your wages. And how long does that normally take or is that dependant on my employers?
It's done as soon as your employers use the new tax code which should be on the next payroll run after being notified.0
