Credit Reference Agencies - who uses who

Does anyone know if there is some kind of reference out there as to which banks/building societies/companies use which particular credit reference agencies?
The reason I ask is that a few years ago I ordered a credit reference score from Equiafax, this gave me a good credit score, based on this I applied for a loan and was turned down. Afterwards it turns out I had a bad score with Experian !?!?
Anyone know of a list somewhere which shows which companies use which particular agency?
