I recently joined TNS Shop&Scan (the normal one, not family food diary) through volunteer4panels.
I was just wondering if anyone could help with 2 quick questions (sorry if this is the wrong place, please move if it is):
What items do we scan other than food shopping from the supermarket? The list of retailers suggests we scan everything we buy, would that include cigarettes, petrol, clothes etc?
Also, do we still get the additional points if we scan most but not all receipts? I've already got 15 that I'll need to scan individually on Sunday, but there are the odd ones (such as when buying just a newspaper) that shops don't give receipts for. Would this be ok? I did email them asking but they just said some margain for human error is allowed, not sure if that was a yes or a no.
Many thanks if anyone can help, I really appreciate it!)

You can scan everything you buy food, toiletries, cigs, booze the only thing I have a problem with is clothes they never seem to scan apart from george or tesco.
As for the receipts you get the 500 points if you scan 1 or 15, they do only want receipts for certain stores though
We only need receipts for the following stores:
Supermarkets and Grocers- Aldi
- Asda
- Budgens
- Co-op
- Costcutter
- Iceland
- Jacksons
- Lidl Londis
- Marks and Spencer
(includes Simply Food) - Morrisons
- Netto
- One Stop
- Sainsbury
(includes Local and Central) - Spar / Spar Eight Till Late Somerfield Tesco
(includes Extra, Express and Metro) - Waitrose
- Farm Foods
- Iceland
Chemists, Drugstores and Health Shops- Alliance Pharmacy
- Bodycare
- Boots
- Holland and Barrett
- Lloyds Pharmacy
- Savers
- Superdrug
- Costco
- Mothercare
- Poundstretcher
- Toys R Us
- Wilkinsons
- B&Q
- Bodyshop
- Focus (Do It All)
- Homebase
- Pets At Home
- Perfume Shop

Basically I think the rule is if it has a barcode then scan it!
On the till receipts I think they'll be happy as long as you do as many as you can. They're pretty friendly and I can't see them getting too upset if you miss a few, although they might pick up on it if you just do 1 a week to get the points and no more!
One thing to note, though, as it confused me at first. They give a list of stores they need a receipt for but you still have to scan your shopping from other stores. So if you buy something in a shop not on that list you still need to scan it with your clicker, you just don't need to bother scanning the receipt.
I hope you are enjoying scanning as much as I am. It's well easy and paid for a fair chunk of my Christmas shopping!
Hope this helps :beer:0 -
Hi,
In reply to the earlier posts I have been scanning shopping for TNS for approx 6 years now and only ever do 1 scan a week even if we shop more often - it has never been a problem and I have earned 100's in vouchers from them in my time. The 1 scan is always our main food shop.
I also managed to get into consumer Pulse and Family Food Diaries by invite from being in the Shop & Scan task first.0 -
Kazzieg & cjn102 - Thanks so much for your replies! Just wanted to check I'm doing it all okay - yes, I'm quite enjoying scanning too! Love the clicker! But then I'm easily entertained
