I have read a lot on this forum about cooking with a slow cooker being one of the best ways to do your joints of meat.
So I was considering buying one, but which one to go for? Anyone have any recomendations, also the best value please.

they are unsophisticated things and are all much-of-a-muchness. I would go for a larger size, though, as you can always do more and freeze the surplus for another day. And oval ones tend to take up less room.
How about this one?

Try and find one with a ceramic pot and ceramic lid. I've had 3 glass lidded ones, the first shattered in the dishwasher and the next 2 just shattered while in use, sat there on the pot.0

I got one with a ceramic lid from ebay for about £7 about a year ago and it is fab. Brown but fab! They are absolutely brilliant for busy working people because you can get the dish ready the night before, stick them in the fridge and then put them on before you leave for work. WHen you get home, dinner is served. No more ready meals. Can't recommend them higly enough and don't know why every home hasn't got one.. Try freecycle - a friend got one from there.0

Hi robodan,
You should get more help with this on the Old Style board, so I'll move your thread over there.
In the meantime have a look at The Complete Slow Cooker Collection where you will find lots of threads recommending slow cookers.
