Going for one of these on Tuesday. Any idea what they are likely to test?
Surprisingly, I've never had to do one before.....

I think they will test you on computer packages (e.g. Microsoft Office), and data entry accuracy/speed.
Also, it will depend on the job you applied for though.0 -
Thanks. I can't improve my typing speed much in 4 days, but I guess I can try and revise my Microsoft Office skills.
Any ideas what a typical task would be?0 -
It's usually a simulation, rather than the real program, so sometimes you have to do things in a certain way. The tests I've done start easy and get progressively harder.
So... it'll say "Save the file to the floppy disk, and call the file letter.doc" or something. CTRL+S will probably not work (as it's a dumb simulation), so you go to the File menu, choose Save, etc.
I know how to use Word, but sometimes have to hunt for what I'm looking for (e.g. "Is the Page Layout option in the File menu or the Format menu?)... Again, because it's a simulation, if you click "Format" to have a look, it might say "Wrong! You need to go to the File menu", even though you were just having a quick look for the right selection, so it might be worth getting to know where all the options are.
It's been quite a while (5 or 6 years) since I've done one of these, so they may have changed quite a bit since then...0 -
I did one a couple of years back for the job i am in now, and i was a case of typing spped, how many spelling mistakes have been made, printing certain pages off etc etc.
Pretty basic stuff but nerve racking as with any test, you feel under pressure but i think it is to ascertain which job you will be more 'qualified' for.
Good Luck0 -

The other people have answered about the typical tasks already.
You could improve your typing speed in 4 days, just practice using 'typing speed/accuracy' websites. If you type at a decent speed, you will be ok.0
