Hello all,
Well just as i thought my OH was getting his head around being br, started going back to work after being on long term sick with depression and panic attacks because of the whole BR/crazy ex wife situation, his work went and dissmissed him yesterday claiming unauthourised absences. Obviously we'll fight it, as we followed company procedure and he had sick notes to cover them... not that he wants to work there again but for the principle. But because he's dissmissed he won't be able to get any benefits, so he has NO money, so its major job hunt time! But that means it'll be a strain on my wage again and once again never ending paperwork (that i'll be doing) if we go for tribunal. It just seems so hard, and never ending... now i'm the one that wants to cry and let the whole world swallow me up.
I know it's like a fresh start, the prospect of a new job and the br, but it's just so draining.
Oh, but i did ring the OR yesterday and told her, she said just to put it in writing to her. So thats this mornings job (while at work! I'm lucky it's quiet
)
Sorry i just wanted to vent really

Sorry to hear you are feeling down at the moment, but use this board as much as possible. I have found it invaluable, especially when I am having a "downer" day. I know that this does not help your present situation, but it does help to get it off your chest, especially to people who are in a similar situation. Heres hoping things take a turn for the better for you.:pB&SC No. 298

I think you are wrong about the benefits. You get sanctions on benefits when you leave the job yourself - NOT when you are sacked. If he is looking for work he should get JSA for a period.
You may then get help with rent, council tax, tax credits (if you have kids), working tax credit (if you are on a low income) etc. You can apply for JSA online. http://www.dwp.gov.uk/eservice/ then they call you back to make an appointment. Get him to do it today as the more you delay it then the more money you lose; its not usually backdated.0 -
<<<<HUGS>>>> gj sounds like you need it right now.
People keep telling me that things always happen for a reason & to take one day at a time.....it just is so hard when you are in the middle of it & I know how you are feeling right now.
Get in touch with your local welfare rights (part of local council) & see what the benefits are....they will also help your OH with the forms so that should take some pressure off you.
I had my work contract terminated due to ill health in August09...I had intended to fight it with the union but I know that I am still not strong enough to go through it all so I have let it go. I regret this & would urge you to fight it & get the union involved or check out the ACAS website for guidance on your rights.
Btw....a good rant is like therapy & very beneficial
:o

((((hugs))))) i'm sorry to hear what your OH (and you) are going through. sounds dodgy if you've got docs notes etc...i also agree with previous posters here, i think your OH would still be entitled to benefits, make sure you look into this. everything always happens at once, i know things are rubbish and worrying at the moment, but i'm sure things will turn around. keep fighting the good fight!0

Thanks everyone, just needed a good rant! we fully intend to fight this. I think they just got him back to work off the sick to sack him! But appeal letter has gone in, appointments with jobcentre sorted to see what he can get. And also spoken to Acas and welfare rights. OR has been informed, think i'm on top of things...thanks to my lists - many of my friends knock them, but it keeps me organised!! lolDon't let your fears stand in the way of your dreams. :A0

Morning gj. You sound a little chipper this morning so thats good. I'm tired of 'fighting' people now but will continue. It's like people/organisations think us little individual folk will just accept our treatment or believe what we're told. Just fighting battles is constantly draining isn't it. Hope you're OK and that your OH is feeling ok too. Chin up eh, and *chink* to the lists!0
