Slow cooker help

I want to make a beef stew type thing tomorrow to take to work (on nights)
I've got stewing steak, carrots, onion, mushrooms etc
How long will the stewing steak need? I like it when it's falling apart! and do I put the veg and potatoes in at the same time? :D

Just put everything in together with your stock cubes, herbs, water or whatever your using. Mine takes about 8 hours on low.

If you want to thicken it then either add a couple of tablespoons of flour to everything before the water and mix or thicken with cornflour and water 30 minutes from end.

If you have left over red wine then replace some of the water with it.

If you will actually be in the house whilst this is cooking then put the mushrooms in a few hours before the end.
  • cool - was worried the potatoes would fall apart before the meat!!

Meat cooks quicker in the slow cooker. Make sure the potatoes are biggish pieces though or they will disintergrate.

You can make the boiled potatoes seperately and add them to the finished dish if you like them firm. New potatoes stay firm all the way through.
