Thanks to everyone for their help and advice. When I posted I was sobbing my heart out and everything had come to a head. Sorry I did a runner..
Today we took the first step and actually faced up to the situation. Instead of arguing and blaming each other, we sat down and looked at the options still avaliable.
Checked out benefits .. none avaliable but our spending can be cut back a bit more. Food shopping is another area , quitting smoking is GOING to happen from Monday.
I am concentrating on paying the mortgage and second mortgage, then utillities etc taken on board all your suggestions
The credit card companies will be last on the list .
We have 3 months to turn things around. It's not going to be easy but we aren't giving up without a fight.
You are such a fantastic bunch of people on here and I can't thank you enough!

    Hi cavework,

Well done for facing things head on-that really is the turning point to sorting things out. So many people talk about that 'light-bulb' moment when things come to a head and look back on it as the time things started to change for the better.

I look forward to you saying the same in a few months' time, however you decide to tackle things.

    All the best! :-)

    Self-UNemployed then...

Thanks .. will remember to put that on his CV!:rotfl:
  • I came on here to start my diary - been around for a little while - and I stopped to read your post. Had a cry too because our situations sound so similar. And when I come on here I waver between being heartened by the wealth of support and good ideas, and being horrifed by the number of people with similar problems.
I'd made a start on my SOA and have acted on a few money saving tips, but this morning it seems like it just hit me. I've been hiding my head in the sand and have very few legs left to stand on.
I even went as far as emailing our local housing association to ask if they have a buy-to-rent scheme.
Sorry, not hijacking - will post my own diary this evening. Just want to say no you are not alone and to wish you all the best.
    New CC starting balances for 2014: BC: £2780.00 (2717.45) MBNA: £2185.72 (2160.72)

hellnearth .. when you hit rock bottom the only way is up..(fingers crossed)
I looked at buy to rent but I don't like what I have read about the private companies.
Housing Association would not help us as we are not eligible.
I am gradually coming around to the idea of selling the house after Xmas, renting and clearing all our debts once and for all.
Although it's sad it also is one heck of a relief to accept this is probably the only way to go and there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I am sending you a PM and I will read your diary.. also I have so much respect for you and all the others on here who are in this position..
Your not alone either.. we WILL all get through this.
