some advice please.

my husband brings home £1900 a month, me £186 per week, our outgoings (diredt debits) are £1966 per month, one is £567 to a first plus loan which is secured on our property.i cannot see an end to our debts and am totally ashamed of them. we have never fell behind on any repayments. should we consider bankruptcy? will be very grateful for any information i receive. thank you.

    Unless you're willing to let the house be repossessed the First Plus loan wouldn't be included in bankruptcy, you'll still have to pay that and your mortgage.

    Have you spoken to any of the debt charities yet (sticky at the top of the page), they should be able to explain all your options.

    if i were you i would contact the CAB or National Debt Helpline and see what your options are. hopefully someone with more knowledge will also read your post on here, just wanted to wish you well x

    I agree that the debt charities would be able to go through all your options with you and you will feel better once you know.

    How much are you priority bills? That is mortgage, secured loan and utilities? Would you be able to afford it all without all your other debt?
