I just had a call from BT on 08009889546 it said " this is BT we can't talk to you right now but may call back", then it said " you may remove yourself from our calling list by ringing xxxxxxxxx" I didn't catch the number.
Whats that all about? anyone?

They carpet-bomb 1,000's of numbers at a time. The ones who answer quickest get to speak to the handful of advisors at the other end. Too slow, you get a recording saying you didn't answer quick enough.
Basically. They want to sell you something.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Good to see in your sig you are clearing your debt lee... reckon you'll be completely free by the new year? I wish I was better with money :S.0

If all goes according to plan (haha, when does that ever happen?) I should actually be debt free next month. Of course, my ex-wife, solicitor, or Murphy may have something to say about that between now and then.
I was carp with money until about the middle of this year (although I made baby steps between January and May), but really started the fight from then onwards. Making the first step is the hardest. I found making a realistic but harsh budget to be the key. I can guestimate where my account will be to within £10 by the end of the month.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Hi tanith, I have rang the number it seems that you have received a call from a 3rd party on behalf of BT. If you ring to Free number again you can get a new number to remove you from these marketing calls. Alternatively I can remove your Telephone number from 3rd party calls on behalf of BT, in this case I would kindly ask you to PM your BT a/c details and address and I'll gladly arrange this for you.

Rodney,
I'd like to politely suggest that someone in BT needs to look at what is going in in relation to CCA International (the oursourcer that BT is passing on customer details to to make these calls). The current activity suggests that BT is being rather loose with its DPA obligations, as well as showing little regard for its customers.
I've been bombarded by calls from CCA in recent days, despite being TPS registered for 2 years (the supervisor I eventually spoke to at CCA stated that BT should be pre-filtering the call lists). The representative that drew the short straw when I answered today repeatedly (and deliberately) attempted to claim that the call was 'just a courtesy call' - even when challenged directly that the real purpose was sales. When I requested to be transferred to a supervisor he denied that one was available - which quite clearly wasn't the case when he managed to find one quite quickly when I pressed the right buttons...
I'm not sure that blatant lies and deliberate deception are really the cornerstone of a good customer relationship are they?
I have managed to find someone to escalate this within CCA, and have submitted a complaint to BT, but can't say that I'm confident that either will necessarily result in any real action - if BT was genuinely bothered it would be being more careful in the first place...
[Edited to add that CCA's calls on behalf of BT also showed the following CLIs:
08009533007 (0800 9533007)
08007312687 (0800 7312687)
08003289393 (0800 3289393)

Is it beyond the wit of BT to stop annoying customers?

Just to be clear, if you are wanting to pass on feedback internally what is it that you hope to get from a PM that isn't in my posting above?0 -

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
