Nationwide collections dept

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with Nationwide's collection dept?
Just had a lovely call from a lovely man from NW () informing me to pay off my 1 months arrears now - I said "No, I can't afford to - I will continue to make token payments as told to do by CCCS"
He didn't like that much, what a shame!! And kindly informed me he was passing the debt to their in house collections dept.
Just wondered what to expect as this is a first for me.
Thanks

Under OFT Guidelines, they can't demand you to pay more than you can afford, this includes the debt collection agency. Just continue token payments and inform CCCS of the phone call.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
He wouldnt have like the mention of CCCS. This shows you are taking responsible steps.
If you haven't got it, he cant have it!:D stay wonky

Thanks guys,
I'll call CCCS in the morning just to see what they say.
What made me laugh (and I did actually laugh at him) was when he said, and I quote -
"We gave you this loan as a gesture of goodwill"
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Seriously??!?! Does he think I was born yesterday!
My response was - "No, you gave me this loan to make money from me and as a gesture of goodwill on my part I am paying you everything I can"
He didn't like that I knew what I was talking about, with CCCS and that if it went to court the judge would likely look in my favour as I am paying what I can.
The joys of trying to make ends meet :rolleyes:0 -
Don't worry this will never end up in court. Nationwide will just be trying to recoup everything quickly. Carry on paying what you can afford and don't feel threatened. My Nationwide debt was sold to a dca and within 3 months they were offering me to settle for 50%.0

Yes, mostly bad ones.
I do now have contact with someone in that department who is vaguely human and I think I am getting somewhere with my case. You will probably just be best making the token offers as CCCS suggest. And refuse to talk to them on the phone.
The rule is - everything in writing0
