Thanks again; mine arrived today and I'm so impressed. I'm always on the look out for new authors and think their catalogue is great so I will be ordering at usual price for them as their service was so excellent.0

It seems they've stopped the promotion; probably they have been flooded with requests.
The special offer what comes up with the e-mail now is
Special offer: Go to www.biggreenbookshop.com, buy a Gallic book of your choice and enter a draw to win 2 free Eurostar tickets to Paris, France.0 -
I guess they were not counting on their offer being promoted on sites like this one (and the forum of Readitswapit where I first came across this offer)!0

My cousin has been trying to improve his French and has been buying both novels in the original French and in the English translation (some of them Gallic titles) so that he can read them as a parallel text if he gets stuck - he says that even with the biggest dictionary, a lot of the vocabulary can't be found and even if it can, the meaning isn't clear so it's handy to have the book in English.
If you're interested in doing this and getting the French originals, Amazon UK has some but if not you can order on Amazon France - your normal log-in works and they have your account details already stored so as long as you know enough French to know which buttons to press, you're fine! You have to pay a bit extra on postage but not much.0 -
Thanks for this, perhaps they might offer some more freebies in future.I will keep looking.I love competitions0

That's interesting! I've looked on Amazon before to buy novels in french but always got worried about VAT / tax whatever. Do you know if you just follow the usual process and if you have to pay it, it gets included?Noggin_the_Nog wrote: »My cousin has been trying to improve his French and has been buying both novels in the original French and in the English translation (some of them Gallic titles) so that he can read them as a parallel text if he gets stuck - he says that even with the biggest dictionary, a lot of the vocabulary can't be found and even if it can, the meaning isn't clear so it's handy to have the book in English.0
