I went to an ACN (telecommunications) presentation tonight about becoming a representative, i.e. get friends to avail of ACN's products and for these friends to get their friends etc etc and from this a business is built up which earns money for those within the Network.
I am very sceptical of this especially when I am hearing about setting up fees of £140, however a good friend of mine is involved with this albeit he is still a newbie, that is why I have not completely poured cold water on the idea.
Has anyone any experience within this filed who could share some advice?
Thanks

A problem with this type of business is that the market is absolutely saturated with telecomms resellers. When I used to manage a shop we probably got one rep a day come in, all kitted out with new suit and shiny new briefcase, they all seemed so young and enthusiastic, after talking to them you could see the penny drop that they had just paid out a lot of money and were now chasing the same customers as everyone else.
Sure there is the potential to make huge money, there are a gazillion fixed lines and mobiles out there. But you either need a huge marketing budget or a unique selling point. What will yours be? What sets you apart from the thousands of other resellers out there?
By looking at the prices of the videophone plans it looks a bit of a non-starter. 10 years ago videophones were the next big thing, and 10 years before that...outside of niche business applications they haven't really taken off with domestic users preferring computer based applications.
Their fixed line plans don't look anything special, and I would imagine most people are taking advantage of broadband and phone bundles these days. The mobile market is totally saturated with even supermarkets having their own calling plans. I'm on Virgin and for a contract with no cancellation period I can get 200 minutes and unlimited texts a month...why would anyone bother going with a company they have never heard of?
Resellers weren't so common 10 years ago and they could genuinely save money, now with bundles and packages and computer alternatives and the huge array of competitors you will struggle to fit in.0 -
Probably some sort of pyramid.0
