How much sugar do I need to add to one 410grm can of evaporated milk to convert it to condensed milk please? Do I just chuck it all in a saucepan and boil it? Anything else I need to add?
Thanks I can't see it in the old style recipe lists.

The ratio is one-and-a-quarter cups of sugar to every cup of evaporated milk. Heat GENTLY until sugar has dissolved completely and allow to cool.0

Wow - thank you both for asking and answering this question - I never knew you could do that. If you know how long it keeps that would be good to know.0

Ooh - you've just made me remember something happy - thank you - we used to have condensed milk sandwiches at my Nan's house for tea - sounds disgusting & I don't think I could eat it now but it was just yummy then! :T0

@ tracyk Also how do you do the sandwich thing? Don't they go soggy?*Make every day Caturday*0 -
Condensed milk on thick slices of toast was one of my Mum's better ways of filling her hungry kids up during rationing. A tin of condensed milk was treated like gold dust in our house.By the time it was finished you could see your face in the empty tin, as not a trace was left. It has a taste all of its own.0
