What to do with Utility bills
startingover
Hi all
I went BR back in July and moved out of my house beginning of August. Since then I've had final bills from BT, Sky and Eon. Can I include them in my BR? I have thought about forwarding to the OR but I thought I'd check on here first.
Any advice greatly received.

If they are bills post BR date then you are liable for them.

So...I'm guessing that's why if you don't want to keep your house it's better to get repossessed before you go BR? StartingOver - I'm assuming that hasn't been the case in your situation? Is there still someone living in the house or have you just left it empty but not stopped the bills?0

Not necessarily. When you move out you should give all your utilities final readings and make sure you get the bill for that amount. There should be no bill after that. Have them cut off the supply if necessary. Regarding council tax, you get 6 months exemption and if the house hasn't been repo'd by then you are liable for 50% of council tax - you do have to inform them you are no longer living at the property and ask for the exemption otherwise you'll probably be liable for the whole thing.Desperate4help wrote: »So...I'm guessing that's why if you don't want to keep your house it's better to get repossessed before you go BR? hi
I went BR in July and moved out 1st August after giving them all a final reading. So most of the debt is before I went BR.
I think I'll pass them to the OR and see what he says.
Thanks for the advice.0
