    If rates go up elsewhere dont they have to go up here? The carry trade or something...

    It's a well known Factoid that Interest rates must be set at exactly the same level in every country in the World (give or take 1/32) or the whole economic system will collapse :eek:

    If only. Interest rates are determined by a range of influences many outside of the control of the BOE.

    Unless QE is extended. During 2010 is almost a certainty. And there after regular small rises.

    Interest rates will only hurt those that are over extended on debt. Many people aren't.
