OK, I've finally had to give up on this. I understand bogof but whoopsie still has me baffled. I think I've gained a pretty fair idea of its meaning but I'd like the exact meaning - and also how it's derived - i.e like bogof is just the initials of buy one get one free.

It's a reduced price item - in some shops they're marked as "Whoops"

"Whoopsies" are things that have been reduced to clear, and are so called because one of the supermarkets (Asda, I think) puts stickers on them saying "Whoops!". Personally I think it's annoyingly cutesy, but then I don't like Asda anyway.Back after a very long break!0

i think it just started as 'whoops this is out of date, or bashed.broken etc'It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

Thanks everyone. What a quick response! It's been bugging me for ages - I should have posted sooner. I don't have a nearby Asda so it's not something I've ever seen in the shops.
Oops! (This post is an oopsie) I should probably have added it to the quick question thread.0 -
