Aviva Reattribution

We had an endowment policy that matured this year. There has been a lot going on with Norich Union/Aviva reattribution. We have received 2 of the special bonuses, but wont get the 3rd because our policy has now paid up. However, we had letters about the reattribution & we voted Yes, this vote was registered & we got a letter saying that provided the reattribution goes ahead, we would get our incentive payment at the end of 2009. During a phone conversation, we were told most probably November. We havn't heard anything since. Does anyone know if the reattribution did go ahead?

Thank you to the hundreds of thousands of policyholder’s who took part in our reattribution. The High Court and Aviva Board approved our plans in September 2009 and we completed our reattribution and fund transfer on 1 October 2009.

You can find out more about the voting results, the High Court decision and value of the inherited estate used for payments

    Payment

If you voted ‘Yes’ you don’t have to do anything else to prompt your payment. We expect to start sending payments from November 2009, with the vast majority issued by the end of the year.

We received a payment in todays post -the following is the body of the letter

    Your Reattribution Payment

In summer 2009 you voted to take part in Aviva's reattribution. Our proposals have now been approved and Iam pleased to send you your incentive payment.
This is more than the amount shown in your voting pack to reflect the higher value of the inherited estates.

I'm waiting eagerly for my payout. Out of interest what % higher than the amount in your first letter did you actually get?
    Cheers.........

ooops, ignore me, just checked their website and all payments will be increased by 7.5%............sweet!
  • Not sure if anyone can help with this. Got the shed load of paperwork on the Aviva Reattribution over the past year. Couldn't work out what it was for as I've had so many policies and pensions over the years. Called them up to ask about it and they couldn't elaborate but said to me they must have had a good reason to send it all to you. Anyway, I eventually replied and voted yes. Now got a cheque from them, still don't know why I qualify. Stuck it in a savings account. Really not sure if it is my money or if I can spend it!

Anyone have any similar experience or precedent for this kind of thing. Is there a timescale I need to wait before I can legally believe the money is mine?

    Thanks for your help

The letter that came with the cheque has your policy number on it.

I very much doubt it has been sent to you accidentally - Aviva are hardly a charitable organisation to their policyholders and they are gaining much more out of this than we are. It's yours.
