I was wondering why I still had some money in my bank account but thought nothing of it really. When I got home yesterday I had a letter to say that I had failed to make a payment to my c/card and was being charged £12. I immediately paid some money off it but was going to apply for loan in the next couple of months. Will this have any effect on my credit rating? as far as i know everything else is ok

If you immediately paid off the amount outstanding i.e minimum payment then my guess is you are safe albeit out of pocket on the late payment fee. consistently late payments or arrears as they are known will definitely effect your score. Why dont you spend a few quid on your credit profile before you apply for your loan. It will give you some idea of what a lender will see when considering you and you can also see if all the information about you is correct. well worth it in my opinion. Good luck!0
