Since I originally came on here and got kicked up the backside by you lot, I have sorted out quite a lot. I have sold loads of stuff on ebay and paid off the overdraft and the debt has gone down by about £1000 in spite of having problems with OH van, dental bills and paying for son's exams. I have saved up some money for our move and I am paying over £1000 off the debts this month. The boat is going to be put up for sale next week so that will help. There is only one more payment of the school fees to go (hooray) and that is the end of it. I have had a long chat with OH. I put it to him that we move into rented accomodation and pay off all our debts and we sat down and went through all the figures but finally came to the conclusion that it would be more cost effective to go ahead with the purchase of the house we are buying. We are buying it at £205,000 but it has the potential to be worth £300,000. The area is very central and prices are still going up here.He works in the building trade and he says theres a mini boom going on at the moment, everything is sold before it is built, probably because of the sellers pack that is coming out next year. He doesnt think that house prices are going to go down here at all. If we rented we would be paying about £700-£800 and the mortgage is only £150 more and next June we can remortgage anyway.
Also our mortgage is over 10 years so it will be paid off sooner. We are going to try to keep all the debts at 0% and once we move (should be in the next few weeks) we are going to try to pay it all off in a year. So wish me luck!
