Is this right that the vouchers can be used as £1 off your shopping without having to buy the product

Any usage of these without buying the product is fraudulent, even if Tesco sometimes lets you get away with it.

Yes they can. There is another thread started by welsh dragon to get these vouchers for free (amongst other things) You get about 200 free by e-mailing the company direct.

It is not fraudulent to use these vouchers against the cost of your shopping, if Tesco are willing to accept them then it is a legal transaction, if you offered to pay for your shopping with potatoes and they accepted then it is a legal transaction. The manufacturer can refuse to accept them from Tesco if they believe they were accepted out with their stated terms and conditions and in that case it would be Tesco that would be committing fraud if they failed to disclose the circumstances in which they were accepted.

I can state that is is not fraud with absolute certainty after an incident involving a Tesco supervisor, who accused me of fraud, she didn't know her own company's policy and contradicted an assurance from their head office that I could use vouchers against the cost of my shopping. She then called the Police, when the Police officers attended they then called their office for a definitive answer, they then confirmed that legally I was right and she was wrong.

Needless to say that everyone and their dog knows that Tesco have a policy of accepting coupons against the cost of shopping even for items not purchased, I have no doubt that the manufacturers are aware of this, the most likely reason it is not contested by them is down to Tescos buying power.

Many Tescos and Asda stores will accept these vouchers aalong with other manufacturers' coupons even if you don't purchase the product.

I suppose it is up to the shopper themselves to decide whether they feel that it is ethical or not. There is a debate running over on the Vouchers board HERE about the ethics of using vouchers like these.

Personally, if the store is prepared to accept the vouchers then I will continue to use them.

If the supermarket accepts vouchers in this way than fair enough, but I do get annoyed with the way companies hand out vouchers like these. I remember seeing a thread where people had sent off for World Book Day goodies and had been sent tons of stuff by the organisation. It annoyed me a bit because I tried to order some for the adult literacy/learning difficulties reading groups I run in the library I work in and was told they had no World Book Day stuff left! I also wasn't able to get any Quick Reads vouchers for the library because they have once again run out - grrrr!

Hello Hermia, have you tried contacting them again via the email address on the quick read website ? I know many people have sent off and received their items OK usually within 4 weeks.

If you have no success, please feel free to PM me. We had a charity day in work with lots of stalls and I had a table with quick read vouchers, freebies etc on. I have some spare so if you would like them please feel free to contact me.

We're getting off-topic a bit here but have a look at the Terms and Conditions on one of the vouchers here.
It clearly states that the consumer must use them only against the intended books and the retailer must only accept them in the same way.

Anyway, why buy them off eBay when they can be downloaded all over the web?

I've just seen what they're going for on eBay. It will be cheaper to buy them than the cost of the ink to print them. I stand corrected
