Rather than Go to Aldi try your local Market ! Its peake time for Englsih corn at the moment and more supply than demand,if you ask the guy on the market to do you a deal I am sure he would ... shouldmnot be paying more than 22p per cob at the moment !
To check its freshness make sure the silks at the top are silky not matted and the outer leaves are good crisp green looking, dont be shy of peeling back some of the outer husk and checking the actual kernels inside making sure the cob is full and maggot free !
You need as fresh as possible also as the moment the prodcut is harvested the sugars start to turn to starch and dont taste as good ! Also wash and try raw its awesome"Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

Thanks for your post. Unfortunately I don't have a market where I live as it's quite a small townI looked in the greengrocers today and they were selling them for 59p each or 2 for 99p. Hmm!
I will keep an eye open elsewhere, but I will probably still get some while they're on offer. I remember one year when I still lived at home and they were really cheap, so my dad stocked up on them and we spent the afternoon peeling and part cooking corn on the cob. Yummy!Or just grow your own and cut out the middle man. Once you have tasted fresh corn cut and cooked within minutes, you will never buy from Aldi again!!!
I may give it a go next year, but I live in a flat with no garden so am a bit restricted. I managed to grow courgettes this year in just a growbag which I was very happy about!
Can it be grown in a growbag/small container?Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

The three surrounding towns where I live have little markets each week but hardly anything on them except clothes, and cheap homewear bits. Each has one veg stall selling awful stuff at really high prices. Tried our local farm shop but their prices are extortionate, too.
Miss the days when I'd shop with mum and they'd weigh her tatties and say, 'straight in your bag, luv' and empty them into her massive tartan shopper. Don't miss the 1/2 hour walk home with hankies tied round my hands so the carrier bags didn't cut into them so bad. Or those awful string shopping bags that expanded out every which way and the corners of boxes would jab into your legs all the way home.
Ohhh, but I digress.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250
