tried it at my local boots store but they wouldn't honour the deal and then took the sign off the shelf, maybe you were just lucky .0

I thought if they had a label on shelf they had to honour the deal - something to do with the law?!Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0

Nope, the shelf edge label is just an "invite to tender", as long as they tell you the price at the till they can put what they like on there as no contract (or transaction if you prefer) has taken place. Personally though I've always considered it good customer service to allow the sale at the stated price.. sometimes even if its clearly the wrong label for the item.
Of course theres always extreme cases with some companies and for this there's the misadvertisement laws, which I wont go into because frankly I know nothing about them :-[
BTW, I'm a Duty Manager for Iceland (dont we all just lurrrrve Iceland :-*)

Got mine today, but in my case there were 2 labels on the shelves, one said in the small print at the bottom that the offer expired end of Dec. The other one that offer was on until end of Jan. There was a lot of muttering and if I hadn't followed the supervisor back to the shelf when she checked them, I suspect the outcome would have been different!
Oh and once you've paid (the 'full' amount), you have got a contract and then you can argue you've been misled and can have a go at them, mention Trading Standards as they love this sort of thing. However if all you bought were nappies, it might be a bit tough to argue that you didn't spot the 'error' before you handed over your cash. All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0
