Mortgage arrears

hi can any one help me please ihave a morgage with g.e.money and i am in arrears with a suspeneded possesion order i pay my monthly payment plus £60 of the arrears but 6 months ago i requested to go on interest only and they said yes but for only six months which is now at an end so am back on capital and interest. duringthat six months i paid one of my monthly payments earlier in the month than the proper date which is the 23rd of the month as i had the money and thought i would get it paid early so as not to be tempted to spend it, however because the payment did not go through actually on the 23rd of the month they have marked it down as a missed payment and i am have had charges and interest added, i did not realise this until they sent me a letter saying that as i had not stuck to the arrangement and had missed a payment they were filing for repossession, i explained to them that it wasnt a missed payment but an early one and they said that the computer says it is a missed payment and therefore they were requesting all the arrears paid in full or they would seek to repossess, after much wrangling with them on the telephone they agreed to cancel the possession order. in september i was in the position where i could not pay the monthly payment by the 23rd of the month but i paid it on the 2nd october and wrote and told them that this is what i was doing and the reason why and yesterday i received a letter saying i had failed to keep up payments and they were seeking possession again i phoned them up again and they say i must pay arrears of in full or come to an arrangement to pay of the arrears which is acctable to them i.e. an extra £234 per month on top of £254 payment which i cannot afford i have told them what i can afford but they are not interested. what do i do now? please any one?? help, p.s. i must say that octobers payment has been paid so i am up to date an my arrears are coming down.

To have written that with only 4 full stops is a remarkable achievement.

I think you need to urgently contact CAB or Shelter for advice.
  • i asked for help not a lesson in english language thanks for the advice though
  • Do you anticipate being in a position to afford this mortgage?

i.e. Is there a temporary loss of income, that will be restored at some point - check Directgov website for help with mortgage interest.
Act in haste, repent at leisure.

In fairness, if you want advice, it's a good idea to write in such a way that people will be able to read it easily. There are lots of very knowledgeable people on this forum, but many of them will not read your first post because of the way it's written.

But anyway...what opinions4u suggested sounds like good advice. You've talked your way out of repossession at least three times, but you won't be able to go on doing that forever. You need to talk to someone who can look closely at your situation and advise you, perhaps even intervene on your behalf. Shelter would be a good place to start.

Im sorry my first posting was a bit long, but I w anted to pass on all the relevent information. However, I didnt realise that I had to have a degree in English Language before I received help, I thought this forum was for everyone not not the select few who can spell correctly and are grammatically perfect, but thanks for the advice anyway, its been most helpful.

Its wasn't long and neither do you need a degree in English to request advice here!

Think of it as opening a door for a lady, an act of courtesy. If you lay out your post in easy to read paragraphs then more people are likely to read it and may well be exactly the sort of person you need for advice.

Persons that work shelter could have skipped over it as it was not easy to read in the fashion you wrote it.

Don't take the constructive advice personally it was not meant in such a fashion. Persons are only trying to assist you.

To be honest if you feel a little persecuted by those simply trying to help you it may be you are unknowingly suffering from mild depression particularly given your financial state!! It must be playing on your mind.
It might be a good idea to seek medical advice?

Interestingly,I have just asked my mortgage company if I can go on interest free because I am out of work and am struggling to meet the repayment terms. They did an assessment of my debts and said NO! I even offered to pay them three months interest free payments in advance (the equivalent to one months repayment) and asked it to be reviewed in three months; and they still said no.

The reason they gave is that I would have to resolve issues with my other creditors first (mobile phone, credit cards etc.) before they would help me.

What they are forcing me to do is default which seems to me to not be of benefit to anyone.

I'd suggest if you want any HELP from US then you drop the attitude.

This is a text based forum - people need to read and understand your question in order to help. If you simply present them with a wall of text with no capitalisation, punctuation or, most importantly, paragraphs, they won't read it and therefore won't HELP.

It is quite a simple concept - if you want OUR help, please write in a legible manner. We aren't expecting that your grammar or spelling will be perfect (although most modern web browsers have spell checking built in), but we do expect that your posts will be readable, which yours wasn't.

Take your time writing, use paragraphs and full stops. The end result will be that you'll get the help you need.
