    Not unless you are in business as a share trader.

    You can offset capital losses against capital gains (for example, the sale of shares for a profit) - but not income.

    At least, that is my understanding!

    (Remember, you also have an annual capital gains tax allowance.)
    For the avoidance of doubt: I work for an IFA.
