Mortgage Application from NatWest is REALLY SLOW!!

Hi all,

I just want to express my frustration with NatWest recently.

I went to my branch to apply for a mortgage 3 weeks ago. They said they will give me a decision to lend within 5 days. After 5 days time, I call back to my natwest personal mortgage advisor to see if there's any update. Guess what, the mortgage advisor was no longer working in NatWest anymore (due to redundancy... I think!). Therefore, I have to call to the mortgage centre to find out if there's any progress and the answer is NO! I have tried to call them every other day but they just keep giving me a robotically answer to tell me call back in a few days time.

It's been 3 weeks without any progress, that is totally ridiculous and unacceptable!!

If anyone thinking to get a mortgage from NatWest now, my advise is a defininte NO!!!

If it makes you feel any better HSBC are taking an absolute AGE to move me between products. They told me it would only take a day upon receipt of my ERC, however they have had it for nearly (edit: over actually) a week now resulting in me being charged interest at a high fixed rate, and me being out of pocket by several thousand quid.

All as useless as eachother it seems :)
  • I can't complain about Natwest, we are FTB and applied for our mortgage on 8 October, had the survery and now had our official lending letter from Natwest on Saturday 24th.

I am FTB as well and I applied the mortgage at the SAME DATE as you!!

I guess I am in a bad luck period...
  • Hi,

I Applied for a AIP with Natwest on the 8th Oct got all the paper work the next day. We signed and posted it back with everything they had asked for. I gave them a week and a bit and rang to ask the decision on 22nd Oct, we were told then it had been approved by the underwritter and was asked if were happy for them to take the payment for the Survey. I rang on the 26th Oct to ask when the survey was due to be done only to be told that they couldn't book it yet as our application was still at the underwritters, apparently there was some trouble verifying my partners income and they had send a reference for to his employers on the 15th of Oct for them to sign. No one could tell me why I had been told everything was fine. Anyway I asked to speak to the underwritter who was very nice. I asked why they needed to verify his income, she said it was because his P60 only showed an income from jan to Apr as he had started a new job. This was annoying as I had given him all the paper work to take to the local branch to get copied and stamped including his last 13 weeks payslips however because some of them were copies his employer gave him, the person in the branch told him they couldn't accept copies ( I had already told the person I had been dealing with re the mortgage and he had said it would be fine) so he only sent his P60. I asked the underwritter if i were to take them in to the branch, get them copied and faxed over (don't want to use post at the moment) if this would speed things up, she said that would be fine. All done yest aft however it took till lunch time today for them to show up on their system and we have to wait until tomorrow night for the decision.
