right then...
as your 12 month guarantee has expired, your battle here is more with the manufacturer than the retailer. part of the sale of goods legislation does state that a consumer should be able to expect an item to last a 'reasonable time', up to 6 years in some cases but this depends on the item. however after 6 months, it is your responsibility to show that the goods were not of satisfactory quality from the day of sale.
i suggest you go to your local branch and ask nicely if there is anything they can do. as it is just outside the guarantee, you may get a sympathetic member of staff who will be prepared to arrange a repair/ replacement for you.
if they will not agree to conveniently forget it being out of warranty, they will still offer to arrange a repair (if possible), however you will be liable for any charges incurred. if it is only a cheap tv, it may be cheaper to buy a new one.
i would suggest you act quickly, as time is not on your side.
any further questions, just ask and we'll do our best to help :beer:know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

I had a Mikomi LCD TV that died a week after the year warranty ran out, but I called Argos customer services and they arranged a swap-out with my local store "as it was an Argos branded product". It'd be worth a try calling them, but make sure that you have the receipt. If they do swap it, you'll get another 12 months warranty too!

You have nothing to loose by asking both Argos and the manufacturer.
We had a Sony tv package as a wedding present and the tv packed up just after the 12 months guarantee. Sent it off to be repaired by the shop we bought it from and also called Sony to complain - they paid the cost of the repair! Hope it doesnt break again as the shop we bought it from doesnt exist now!0 -
