Car Finance

Hi,

Does anyone have any idea whether having a 'fair' credit score is good enough to obtain car finance?

I've spent the last 12 months rebuilding my credit rating from 'very poor' to 'fair' and just keen to see if this will be sufficient.

Any advice appreciated!

I'm only looking at 5-7k

Cheers

Have you thought about a regular loan (rather than a car specific loan)?

You might be surprised... and besides it's probably cheaper to get. Try Tesco loans or a comparison site to get a proper idea of what's available.

    Cheers for the reply Rob!

I'd heard that car finance was easier to obtain than a normal loan, but i'll certainly give that a try!

Tbh, we went into our local dealership a few weeks back and they really didn't look or act like they wanted to do any sort of a deal. I told them the sort of repayments I was looking for and they basically laughed and told us to go away. The sort of rate they are currently offering seems ludicrus, unless they took a look at me in my trackies and t-shirt and him in his comfy jeans and decided we weren't worthy of their credit.... I just dunno lol. The bank might be your best bet, although the APR seems unbelieveably high at the minute with most loans, despite the low base rate.
