Is there anyone out there buying endowment policies at the moment? I am about to surrender a policy back to the company I'm with but the thought strikes me there may be better deals out there.

With the way the interest rates are at present, Endowment Policies (assuming they are of the conventional "With Profits" type and not Unit Linked) are not that viable to the Companies who used to be anxious to buy them. I have a Low Cost Plan with Norwich Union and the returns over the past 20 years have been rubbish, with the Terminal Bonuses not being what I would have hoped. You could try Policyplus. When I approached a Company six months ago, the offer they made wasn't worth considering as Norwich Union have a "promise" to add up to £1,500 to the Policy at maturity if there is a shortfall, which undoubtedly there will be. So I will just have to sit tight for another two years until the Policy matures.0
