Help! Need help to remove sticky labels from paper

Hi, I've made a mistake at work and my boss isn't very happy to say the least. I put address labels on some Christmas cards but I was meant to only do 100 cards. In the box there were 300 but I thought there was 100 in there so I've done another 200 by mistake :embarasse . The labels will not come off the cards. They leave a bit of the label behind. Does anyone know how to get the labels off? Obviously, with it being on card, it can't really be soaked. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Sticky Stuff Remover, I used it on books at work to remove any residue from labels.
That's twice today I've recommended this, I haven't got shares honest.:rotfl:Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw
apologises for spelling mistakes - google toolbar and I have had a hissy fit and I've lost me spell checker.0 -
If it's a shiny card then gentle rubbing of the sticky stuff with a baby wipe might do it. It works on the sticky residue from labels on shoes etc.0

Just remembered another one you could try is bluetack, get a small ball and roll it around in your hand so its nice and warm and then rub or roll gently over residue and it should pick it up. Be careful depends what the surface is like or it may leave streaks, but that has worked in the past.Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw

If it's shiney card, try Isopropyl Alcohol (aka Isopropanol Alcohol). Used to be available at most chemists, and is pretty cheap.
Pour some onto a cloth and quickly wipe the affected area. I say quickly, as it dries very very quickly when exposed to air.0 -

If your time is so worthless to your boss that wasting hours removing labels from 200 cards is cheaper than just buying new ones then start hunting for a new position now.0

Equally, if your boss really can't afford to buy more cards, start looking for a new job!
Seriously, some people!! :rotfl:0 -
Would it not be easier just to put a plain label over the top of them. No matter what method you choose it will take a long time. Good luck.0

Thanks everyone. I will try some of your suggestions. I've had a laugh at your responses anyway which has cheered me up! I only started my job 4 weeks so ago so you know how it is with doing daft things in a new job. At least I've not blown up the photocopier yet...0
