Nice to hear from you Rog, as Angie says we have missed you on DFW with your tales of trundling the lanes of the West Country delivering groceries, and your supportive words to people in debt crisis. Please please please come back when you can, lots of newcomers have joined with problems that could benefit from your wise counsel. You are living proof that there is life after bankruptcy, and even working as a delivery driver means you are performing a useful service to people. I certainly use online grocery shopping as a means of saving time and money. You still have years ahead of you to try and realise your dreams, maybe not exactly the same format but who knows? New opportunities may arise. Good luck Rog, nice to know you haven't disappeared off the planet!

Hi Rog - as always very eloquently put. I, too, owe you my gratitude for all the help and support you've given since the time I joined this forum. I hope all your dreams come true!!

  • excellent post mate a great read, all the very best for the future
  • Rog you are not a 'statistic' and you didnt 'give up'. You dealt with your debt in the only way possible, you exhausted all other avenues and bankruptcy was the only one left. That in no way makes you a failure, that 'gave up' and I would challenge anyone that tells you or anyone else who has gone backrupt otherwise. Your 'job' now doesnt reflect who you are and who you are yet to still become, its just the means to an end just now.

You are a person and one (if not the only) I look up to and admire. What you have been through these past 4 years is nothing I would have liked to have face and deal with as you have. Merely coming out the otherside and still willing to give advice to many not only looking at banckruptcy but also dealing with nominal debts show the courage and determination you have.

You truely are one special gentlemen and I do hope one day your dreams will be accomplished and you can indeed look back at this part of your life as a 'glitch'. Take care of yourself and your family Rog, keep strong, and good luck for the coming years :kisses3:

From what I understand it is thanks to you and the others that were around 3 years ago that this board exists.

In the face of much more adversary than we have to suffer around here today, you braved the boards and undoubtedly made it a much more 'comfortable' experience for those of us coming on here today. And for that I would like to thank you and the rest of the stalwarts on this board.

    Hi Rog,

Like many on here, I too have benefited from you kind words and good advice.
I know you will eventually get back to doing something you want to do, look at me mate, from having over 50 staff to driving a taxi:rotfl::rotfl:

But, it has kept a roof over my head, and food on the table, same as your job.

I'm just on the way back up now so there's hope for us all:D

Like Phil said, thanks somehow doesn't seem enough....

    All the best mate.

  • Hi Rog

Hope you are well and things are working out for you. Doesn't seem like 3 years. I became br about 3 weeks after you and your advice was terrific.
I haven't visited this thread for a while but it is a good reminder of how easy it is to fall into the 'bad old ways' I had.

I'd just like to say a big thank you to everybody for your, as ever, supportive comments.
I obviously can not reply to everyone individually, but the general 'thread' of comments echoes the whole 'ethos' of this forum, and I am so pleased to see that, as it goes from strength to strength, the underlying, and unique, characteristic of this board is one of support - that's what gives it its strength.
I admit that I was in 'sombre mood' when I posted, but your comments have certainly 'lifted' my spirits - even given me the boost to pick myself up in my working life.
I have, yesterday, agreed to work with a company, on a self-employed basis, as their UK Technical Sales consultant, in the same industry that I was dealing with before my bankruptcy. They, in return, will fund my expenses until sales start to materialise. I can fit this in around my 'delivery job', which is only part-time anyway. Using many of my old contacts, and customers, and with the possible end of the current recession in sight, this will go a long way to giving me back the 'self respect', even dignity, that I have been questioning over the last three years. It may not be quite the same as running my own business again, but these are like-minded people and are fully aware of my situation and supportive of my ambitions.
Equally, I will be able to use the facilities of a well established company, including their accounting services, which should prevent me from making the same mistakes as before.
So it's 'onwards and upwards' thanks, in no small part, to the comments and support that I have received from the good folk on this forum.
Once again - Thank You everyone.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
