Uses for Yeast Extract

Since OH was made redundant we've bought the OB version of this famous spread and as he's the main one for eating it he didn't find the taste any different. Apart from on crackers or on bread I find it's really good to add to pep up a veggie gravy, we use it in cheese straws and sometimes spread under cheese on toast.

a variation of cheese straws my mother always used to do:
roll out pastry as usual. spread with yeast extract, sprinkle grated cheese. Then roll up pastry. Chill for a while then cut into thin slices - lay on greaseproof, glaze with egg and bake.0
