bad credit + mortgages

Myself and my partner split up this year and I moved out. The mortgage company say he's not paid the mortgage for 2 months - he says he has. Can anyone tell me if I can renounce any claim on the property to stop my credit rating from suffering anymore? And how hard will it be for me to get a mortgage in the future?
Thanks

If it is a joint mortgage, you are both jointly liable
You cannot renounce your claim.
You need to get in contact with Citizens Advice as they should be able to help, and the lender, to explain what is happening.

Hi Herbie,
Thanks for your reply I have actually done all you said. I'm still waiting for the lender to forward all correspondence on to me.
