Abbeyloan settled-CapQuest threatening court action!

:( I settled an Abbeyloan on 10/8/09 following a horrendous period in arrears due to redundancy and living beyond means. Lesson learnt, all going well until received letter today, from HL Legal acting for Capquest who claim Abbey never told them account settled. Abbey say they did tell Capquest and confirm payments received and debt settled. But neither company will contact the other. I am waiting for a call from the solicitor's who sent the letter but frightened by the thought of court action, although I have kept paperwork/evidence of payment etc. They have added £155 of legal costs to the £2454.42 already paid.
What can I do to make Capquest leave me alone?
2 years 6 months to go until credit card/loan debt paid off...then start on the mortgage!!! :o
...but heading in the right direction :)

I would let them take you to court if they are ignoring the fact, take it abbey have put it in writting that the debt is settled?

Have you tried sending Crapquest a copy of the letter saying the account's paid?
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Thank you PNPSUKNET and Ames. I tried to contact the solicitors acting for Capquest-Crapquest is an accurate description!-and was put through to one of the partners whose name was on the letter. (The first time I called them I was told this person did not deal with that area of business and someone would call me back which of course, no-one did)
Rhona Lavender who I spoke to confirmed that they should not be chasing me following a couple of calls to her contacts, so hoping this will die a quiet death.
What really grinds is the fact that nobdy will say sorry-when you've been through a bad time and done all you can to out things right, this would mean so much. Also why do staff who can't answer your questions refuse to pass you on to someone who can?
All I would say is DON'T GIVE ABBEY your business as if you ever hit problems they are not interested and have chosen to use a company like Capquest who do not listen when they have their facts wrong.
I'll wait to see if I get the written confirmation that no further action will be taken, but not holding my breath.
    Thanks for listening! :o
