Citi Financial loan

Options
a few years ago i took out a loan with citi financial, at the time i also took out their Personal Takecare insurance after being told that it was their version of PPI and would be required because of my previous credit history. Last year i received a couple of letters, one stating that that my takecare insurance was about to expire which although strange as my loan still had over a year to go was no major surprise the second letter stated that my other home emergency insurance was also due to expire. As i had no knowledge of this insurance i contacted Citi thinking that there had been a mistake (letter sent to wrong person). Imagine my surprise when they replied that no mistake had been made and when further questioned my surprise became more akin to stunned when they explained that this insurance was to protect my mortgage (i am and always have been a council tennant). I have questioned this in writing only to be told to basically go away and pay up, it is now in the hands of a collection agency dispute department where it has been for a couple of months since when i have also discovered that the takecare insurance is basically a personal life/accident insurance (i have been insured with a policy taken out with my bank for years) and there is also a further PPI insurance that has also been added. The Collection agency has sent me a copy of my loan agreement with the various insurance boxes ticked yet my copy of the agreement has no such references (i have sent copies to the dipute section). I have also not yet recieved copies of the insurance policies even though i have asked to see them

What should i do next?

Reclaim all PPI as it was mis-sold to you at outset. They cannot insist you take PPI 'due to your credit' - lol, what nonsense!

Managed to get back insurance from previous loans but Citi refused to budge on the current one so passed everything to the Financial Ombudsman Service. That was beginning of February and all I keep getting is letters saying the next stage is the file will be passed to an adjudicator.

Let's hope they take action soon, the loan agreement will be completed in December!

Thank you to everyone. OH received a cheque for the whole of the PPI paid plus interest.

All thanks to the FSA. Took 18 months but worth the wait.
