One thing that came to mind when I read your post. You say you have just split with a partner. Is this all your debt? Should he not share some of it with you? Have you been left with the whole lot to pay off?The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

If you use you mobile for all your outgoing calls and you dont go over your monthly free minutes why not just get rid of your home phone. I know a lot of people that have done this. I was considering it myself but I always go over my minutes on my mobile as it is.0

fishface-69 wrote:Well done for confronting things before they got unmanageable (see mine if if makes you feel better!!)....your water seems high - is that £17 each? If so can you go onto a meter?
what about overtime at work? It may be worth investigating secondary employmemt or even a new job, to see if you can up your income.
My water bill is just an estimate at the moment really, we are on a meter so hopefully it should be a lot less than £17 each. I absolutely love my new job so no chance of looking for a new one, as soon as my training is finished in 4 months I will be able to take on lots of overtime which should help though.0 -
chelltune wrote:YOu said you text alot, would it be worth getting a cheap PAYG handset and getting one of the free O2 Sim cards, if you top up by £10 a month you get 300 free texts and still have the £10 credit to use.
Will definitely look into this.....thanks Chell0 -

Sadly this is all mine. I was only £12k in debt when we split 6 months ago but having to buy a car, move house twice, being out of work for a while etc has bumped my debt up massively. So as much as I would like to place some blame on him for my current situation I don't think he'll be putting his hand in his pocket anytime soon!! he he!0 -
Hi
Just a quick thought - my dad was a policeman until he retired last year.
In his police force there were allsorts of products available for police officers on reduced rates - definitely car insurance was one of them.
May be worth investigating to see if you could get any of your current services any cheaper through them?
The Overtime is really great too - you picked a good job where its relatively easy to up the income with extras.
Good luck with getting things sorted. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
