How to communicate

Hi all.... newbie here!
I have a debt that is being managed by Connaught Collections. I don't like talking to them on the phone as they talk to me like dirt basically. I have contacted a few creditors via email to make payment plan offers, all with success. However, Connaught refuse to do this, saying I MUST phone them. I have given tham all of the details via email, all security details, but they still won't and say its because of data protection.
Is this the case? or are they just being difficult?
I have tried to look this up but it's all a bit mind boggling!
Many thanks.

How does phoning someone ensure against fraud?
You are under no obligation to phone them and if this is the nonsense they are spouting then all the more reason to keep everything in writing with them. If they don't want to respond to emails, write to them instead - i would send any letters by recorded delivery though so that you have proof that they received the letters. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
I know! Basically, I have talked to them in the past and they can get quite agressive. I want all future communication in writing which is quite normal. How does email differ from postal mail? I have told them that if they feel it breaches their data protection that they can reply by postal mail to the registered address but they refuse to even comment. like i have someone impersonating me trying to repay my debt... I wish!0

Just ignore their claims that you need to phone.
If they are phoning you all the time, there are letters you can send on the site to stop this. If you need them i can look them out for you. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Hi again.
Finally managed to make an arrangement with them by post. Shouldn't have been such an issue, but apparently the like to get you on the phone to try & intimidate you. I have debts but I'm not a criminal!
Thanks for your help & advice.

XP comes in both Home and PRO flavors, with also an additional 64-bit version. You have not yet provided enough information to identify your operating system. If your username and password are created with the same lack of precision, this could be your issue.
Not sure why you are working so hard to make this more difficult than it needs to be. Simple, basic networking. Using Hyperterminal for this is like trying to climb stairs on a skateboard. Is the usage of Hyperterminal an absolutely rigid requirement? Are you prevented from using similar but more advanced software designed specifically for this purpose?
Have you shared the files, with full rights under permissions for everyone?
Have you verified that both PC are in the same workgroup? Not absolutely necessary, but helpful.
Have you created an identical username and password on both the source and target PC?
Then just go into Network Neighborhood on the target PC and browse for the source. If it does not appear, use the Search function to locate the PC by name. :T0 -
