Tax Rebate?

Hi All

I have never claimed for a tax rebate. I was thinking of claiming for one to see if i have been overpaid. I was sick for quite a bit 2 years ago and got SSP and then i was on mat leave last year and this year. If i should claim how do i go about it?

Firstly, grab your P60's for the last few years and plug the relevant figures into one of the online tax checkers. If you find out you've overpaid then write to the tax office sending them copies of the relevant P60(s).

These days PAYE systems are much more accurate and make adjustments throughout the year for absences, so you may find the necessary adjustments were made at the time for your SSP/maternity leave.
  • Hi, I'm looking to claim as well - I was made redundant at the end of August, and now am moving out of the country for another job.
So, I guess I need my P60 from last year - anything else from April on this year?
    Cheers

The P60 probably won't be of much use - the chances are you paid the right tax. But it does no harm to check.

You need the P45 from the job you were made redundant from.
