Buying House - Need to Swap Direct Debits to GF's Account

Didnt really know where to post thism but seen as it is to do with me getting a mortage then I thought here:

Basically to balance things out between me and my girlfriend the mortgage is going to come out of my account and the bills direct debits out of my girlfriends. The problem I have is that the direct debits currently come out of my account. How do I go about swapping the direct debits out of my account to my girlfriends?!

You ring each individual direct debit company and ask them to change things! You make the request and then you OH speaks to them too!

I'd suggest opening up a new joint account (e.g. Halifax Reward to get £5 a month if you have £1,000 per month going through it), paying in a standing order from each of you for the bills + 10%, and taking it from there.

Some organisations (e.g. Abbey, A&L, Nat West at the moment, Halifax through branch only) will pay an incentive of between £50 and £100 and will then sort out the transfer of all your direct debits for you.

But would we both need to speak down the phone because I cant ring and say take the money out of someone elses account...
