  • Been thinking of buying this this morning but can't decide if it would be durable enough for dd, she'll be 2 and a half at xmas so is a heavy handed toddler! Great price

Sorry to say I'd wait, my daughter had it for her fourth birthday but I had to take it all off her and put it all away as the bits are all tiny!!

She is now 7 and loves playing sensibly with all the tiny bits and pieces!!

    HTH
A small Thank You can make a BIG difference ;)

Thank you. I'd definately be keeping back the smaller bits! Considering letting her play with the animals & some furniture etc. Jury is still out. I guess its because I want it really!

Now there's a idea. Been looking at some nice wooden ones too.

    Anyway sorry...going O/T now! X
  • I'd also say 2 and a half is way too young for sylvanian - My dd is 7 and only just into it.

have you seen the dolls house in Sainsburys half price sale - £50 for the wooden house and all the furniture - great price!

The motorbike and sidecar is £17.22 at Tesco Direct. Great value if you can double up your clubcard vouchers.

Just found this thread my two and half year son keeps asking for sylvanian family for christmas, he's seen the adverts for the big house and caravan. But I was think the above playground looks ok and reasonable valve.

My 2.5 year old son loves his sisters car and caravan and he also loves all the animals and accessories. My girls love the figures but aren't really that fussed by the car and caravan. I was going to sell it but he loves it so we will keep it for a bit.

My daughter will be 4 in Feb. She's had a couple of the families for about 6 months now and adores them, her favourite set is the school pupils set (has minuscule pens/notebooks in it!), they've lived in her little wooden dolls house. She's getting the car and caravan for Christmas, I woudn't have let her have it at a younger age as there's so any tiny bts.
    Slightly worn out mum to 3 (DS1 May 03, DS2 Feb 05, DD1 Feb 08). When i grow up i think i'll become a UN Peace keeper....

My dd is 4 she has a couple of houses and loads of furniture/accessories I took away anything teeny and delicate (put away till she's older), she's still managed to break a couple of bits and she's always been a very light handed child.

This small cottage is a really good starter set if you wanted to start a collection for her http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sylvanian-Families-4419-Sycamore-Cottage/dp/B004KX99BE/ref=sr_1_40?ie=UTF8&qid=1320249754&sr=8-40 we had the older style of this for ds when he was younger and dd now has it, it will always tie in with whatever larger buildings you opt for later, we went with the beechwood hall, they look lovely together. Although I did just buy the regency hotel I couldn't resist the price!

    I've been Money Tipped!
My 2.5 year old loves playing with this. He slides all the figures down the slide and loves it. Its not his though it's his sisters lol

Yeah I did think they were more of a girls toys and honestly found his request odd as he doesn't know anyone with them and they do seem more for older girls say 5+. He has an older brother who's 5 and into usual superhero action figures, lego and hotwheels and he seems to like them too.

But he keeps saying he wants them when the adverts come on. Even though older brother is saying they are for girls. I've shown him picture of tree house set and he says he liked it. I don't want to pay too much and it get wrecked but I also don't want him to be disappointed at x mas. I think tree house and 1 family is as much as I'm prepared to payout at the moment.
For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.
