Threats from Mackenziehall PLS HELP

Hi,
I used to have a Monument credit card back in 2003. I recently received letters from Mackenziehall asking me to pay over £700. I remember my credit limit on the card was either £200 or £250. How has the debt increased to £700.
Secondly they refused to provide me with detials of the debt and what it consisted of. They only told me that I had used my card and my limit was increased and that is why the debt is so large. I cut the card up after six months and paid it off so I don't know if somone has got hold of my details.
Also I agreed to pay £50 per month off the card and fell 2 payment behind. When I called them to pay the money I was advised that I must now pay in full or they would settle this matter out of court, which was strange. The person on the phone got quite threatening and was very rude, so much so that I was shaking with stress.
Please could anyone offer any advice or help.
Thanks.

there will be plenty of help coming soon so dont think youre being ignored . I have seen so many people post over probs with this company. Keep your head up as the advise you get will be very helpful. Wish i knew the ins an outs myself but thankfully havent had to deal with them. Know their reputation to be very pushy. Take heart it will be resolved;)0

Was it over 6 years since you last paid or acknowledged the debt in writing when they contacted you?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Yep.
MH are notorious for chasing statute barred debts.

If that isn't the case, then you should request a copy of the original credit agreement and statement of account.

Hi,
Thanks for you response.
Not sure. I think the last time I dealt with the card was August/Sept 2003.
MH contacted me back in June and have been having a hard time paying off all my debts. Have currently paid them £150.
Thanks.
