I got finances with welcome for a car between 2002 and 2003 as i said i don't have the dates as i no longer have the agreement.
I made payments with no probs then i lost my job rang welcome up to tell them i had lost my job and i MITE NOT make payments till i get new job was told i will still have to make payments i told them i would do my best to pay i ask what would happen with the payments i don't make i was told it would not be a big prob if did miss a payment they would send me a letter saying i had missed a payment I WILL SAY THEY WAS A GRATE HELP AND THANKED THEM FOR IT.
I did miss sum payments i got a letter telling i had so i call them they ask when i could pay i told them t was going for a job interview the next day and i would call them when i had was told that would be fine as long as i tell them what was going on and the same they was a grate help.
I got the job so rang back to tell them they said well do nice of them i was told to go to the office in Endfield to make the payments i had missed but there was a prob with that had to be at work when the office opened and the office would be closed when i fin work so we arranged for sum1 to come to my place of work to pick up the missed payments the man came a week later when i got payed gave the man something like £175 got a receipt as i said i don't have the dates of all this i then made payments as i did before i lost my job.
I had been in the new job for a year i got a bonus so thought i would clear the finances called welcome up was told it would cost £3,000 to clear it don't no the esaxted amount they said they would have to send sum1 to wear i lived i was living with my mum at the time so it was sorted to to pick the balance up this was arranged for the next week
the next week a man and a woman came picked the cash up got a receipt and a letter to say it was all payed off and that was it.
i continued to live with my mum for over a year sins then i not heard from Welcome fin.
Now we jump to 2007 i sold the car i got from Welcome car Fin and got a loan with the Abbey they did all the credit checks with no outstanding credit or defaults years.
now we are in 2008 i got married in DEC 2008 i moved in to my wife's house we needed to buy out her X so we had to get a morgue the same thing had all the credit checks dun came back the same no outstanding credit or defaults.
Now we are in 2009.
The 1st letter i got just said The Occupier with a REF No.***********
so i called them and quoted the REF NO i was told it was to do with WELCOME CAR FINANCE the woman i talked to said i would need to speak to a Jason Evans so i asked to talk to him i was put on hold the Mr Evans came on i said i don't no what this is about as it was payed off over 5 years ago he just said it had not.
We talked on the phone i tried to explain what i have just told you but when i told him i no longer have the paperwork he just said tough i will have to pay it i ask Mr Evans to send me copies of the agent and copies of all payments i made but as yet he has not sent them.
Sins then i got the 2nd letter dated the 16th of sep this one threatens me with court but as you must well no a court will not enforce this as it has been over 6 years all it says is how to pay not a thing to do with what me and Mr Evans told bout.
Then i got the 3rd letter dated the 23rd Sep WITHOUT PREJUDICE.
The outstanding they SAY i owe is £12566.44 but now they say i can pay £6283.22.
then i got a 4th letter dated the 14th of Oct...DEBT COUNSELLING DEPARTMENT
telling me how to pay and if i want to talk to a DEBT COUNSELLING to give them a call.
Why is it they can do all this but not what i have asked for from the 1st call i made to them i will also be sending this Email to the F.O.S.

Please, please use a spell check before doing anything else. If I received the above, I would put it straight in the bin.
Rather than telling a story, you need to get to the point as to why you are sending the email. Having tried to read it (it is not easy to follow), I am really not sure.
Is there anybody that could help you with this?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I have absolutely no idea what it is you're trying to say and I'm guessing the person on the other end of this will feel the same way and bin it.0

You need someone to completely re-write the letter.
Both in Spelling and grammar, it needs modifying extensively.
I hope someone has enough time to help you out before the trolls start.
Good luck
[EDIT] Crikey, I thought I was quite quick too :eek:0 -
hi sorry bout my spelling and grammar0
-
You really don't need about 80% of that information - You really need to say the following things
- The reason you're writing
- The action on the other party
- Your expectations of next steps

moley1 your letter is pretty difficult to understand - have you been to see anyone at Citizen's Advice, they may be able to help you write a more constructive / understandable letter0
-
hi no i find it hard to do things like that0
-
Please make an appointment to see someone at CAB - take all your paperwork with you (even take a friend if it helps)0

Hi Moley1
If I have followed the gist of your letter draft (please do not send out the letter as posted on this forum as it needs spelling and punctuation checks), then you appear to have made full and final settlement of the amount that you borrowed from Welcome Finance with a final payment of some £3000.00 in cash to representatives of that company. You obtained a receipt at the time, but no longer have any paperwork relating to the debt.
You should be able to ask Ruthbridge Ltd for proof that you owe this sum of money and in any response you should not acknowlege any debt at all, let alone a long and involved story.
In essence they claim that you owe them money. They must prove it by producing an original agreement and a detailed breakdown of payments and interest to account for the sum they are claiming. If they have also lost the paperwork - or never had it - then they cannot enforce the debt.
Look through this forum for suitably worded templates, fill them in and get someone to check it over for spelling and sense.
Good luck.Debt September 2020 BIG FAT ZERO!
Now mortgage free, sort of retired, reducing and reusing and putting money away for grandchildren...0
