Hair Straighteners - Which Ones Should I Buy?

My existing £30 hair straighteners have just broken and I desperately need to replace them .... but with which ones? I'm not too worried about how much they will cost, just need some that will make my wavy hair straight .... and keep it that way even if it is damp outside. Are GHDs really worth the money?
Hope someone can help make this "ugly" step-sister look like Cinderella! :rotfl:

A few of my friends have really recommended FHI's, apparantly just as good as GHD's (and look very similar!) think you can get them at saloneasy.com

I have Remington Protect & Shine, and some Babyliss 2085 Pro 230. They are both good, I prefer the Remingtons though as they are slightly smaller and easier to handle. You can get either of them on Amazon for less than £25.

I swear by my GHDs, I have really wiry hair and they are the only the ones that tame it! Not exactly money saving I suppose but I got them as a present after many (not so subtle) hintsIf swimming is good for your figure, can someone please explain whales?0

ghds are fantastic , i use them at work all the time drop them etc.... and there all still going strong after 4-5 years0

GHD's without a doubt. I have tried numerous others and my hair's fairly straight anyway so they don't need to work that hard!
My daughter has GHD's and there's no comparison.0 -
I have to go with the GHD's as well, once spent £80-odd on a pair of Babyliss ceramic straighteners I was told were just as good, they worked nowhere near as well!0

yep GHDs.. they last forever & straighten hair the best!!!
o and don't get them off ebay cus they sell so many fakes0 -
where is the cheapest place to buy GHD's?0

I think that FHI straighteners are BETTER than GHDs and are cheaper.
One of the main benefits of them is that they get up to a higher temperature than GHDs and, believe it or not, the hotter the better for you as you only need to do one 'sweep' through your hair to get it nice, straight and shiny. Saves times too!
I posted the following review on these forums a while back which others found useful (and no, I'm not the author of it!)

My FHIs cost about £45 and that was a couple of years ago and was a particularly good deal.
