I would agree with almost all of the above, except maybe the cost of the millk. My boy was a right porker and was having 5 eight oz bottles a day by the time he was two months old so they cost us a fortune. Thankfully, I had breast fed up till then so we had some extra cash stashed away. Also, in terms of the baby food, I usually make my own but after a bit of a disaster with one big batch in the early days of weaning (1 kilo of carrot and swede which had to be chucked because he didn't like it!- only so much mush I can eat myself) I decided to buy a jar first to see if he liked the taste and then make up a big batch. Saves on chucking loads away, and can be convenient if you're short on time!

I use own brand nappies and wipes, cheaper than Pampers etc and I actually prefer them. I stock up on them when Sainsburys have a third off all nappies or half price wipes.

For a newborn don't buy too many packs of size 1 as they quickly grow out of size 1 and 2 nappies.

I would say if you buy own brand nappies and wipes you'd be spending £20-£30 a month.
