Scammed by Yesloans?

Hey, first off this isn't for me but for my utter numpty of an older brother. Anyways he's got really bad credit and is currently with a debt management company paying off old debts, he's been with them for a good couple of years and will have paid all his debt off in a few months. Anyways he wants an engagement ring for his girlfriend and needed a loan for one, no bank or anything like that would give him one so he went with a company called yesloans. He rang them up and told them from the off he was with a debt management company, they assured him it wouldn't be a problem, he sent them £60 as an admin fee and they then sent him loans papers and an agreement to sign for a loan, for £750 paid back over a year. Anyways a a week or so went by and the loan hadn't go in, he rang them up and they said sorry because your with a debt management company were not going to give you that loan, despite the fact he made them aware of it from the start, they wouldn't budge on this. They've since 'found' him a new loan but with an obscene interest rate and paid back over two years, they also want a guarantor and copies of their bank statements etc. Needless to say he hasn't done this. Anyways there now refusing to give him the £60 back and he keeps getting hounded off them now and other what look to be associated companies offering debt management services etc and has had some very horrible and rude phone calls off companies.

He paid the £60 on switch/maestro, I've told him just to ring his bank and tell them to do a chargeback on it as it's a fraudulent transaction, I've done chargebacks a fair few times before after being screwed by a certain phone company (3) with no questions asked. So fingers crossed they'd do this for him?

If not whats the best course of action to take you reckon? Oh and he's now decided to buy a ring come payday and not bother with a loan....

Cheers

Actually it's not an unauthorised transaction as he gave them the card details and authorisation to take the amount.

However, if he writes to Yes Loans he should be able to get everything but £5 back from them.

Have a search on this site for more information, theres 5-10 people every single day posting with exactly the same story.
  • Hi,

I recently paid the fee with yes loans to TRY and get a loan, i was told if i paid the fee there was no way that the loan would be declined.... but it was. They havnt evan attempted to get in touch with me.

He needs to be very careful, you're not supposed to take out more credit when on a DMP, if his provider (I hope he's with one of the free charities btw) finds out it could be cancelled, and if his previous creditors find out they could get awkward and start charging more interest etc.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
