If I open an barclays basic card account prior to Bankruptcy should I put it in my bankruptcy petition or leave it off so it will not be closed for my direct debits?. Just would like the take on what people have done?

If you open the account BEFORE going bankrupt then you have to list the account on your forms......usually though the OR wont be interested in a "basic" sccount so you should be fine..
it tends to vary...some people open an account before going BR some leave it till afterwards either are usually fine though. We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -

I preferred opening my account pre BR so I had a place for my wages and direct debits. I ended up opening it 5 months prior to BR.

Indeed.

I still don't see why Barclays think online banking is risky for BRs? Doesn't make sense???

It's a good idea to ask them why bankrupts are not allowed online banking.
Also, a suggestion to them about letting bankrupts have online banking, as a 'customer feedback'. Hopefully, they will take it on board. I think customer feedback works. For example, the Barclays Cash Card Account (CCA) used to have a cash card only, but after customer feedback about them wanting debit cards with the account, now the bank listened to customers and let them have debit cards with the CCA.0 -

I think it's because they offer products to online users that may bypass normal credit checking procedures. The simple solution to this is to ensure they credit check each time a new product is offered. However, I think Barclays online time have other issues atm (such as ensuring the system works).
I have kept my online banking but I think that's because my account was opened three months after my bankruptcy by which time the bankruptcy list had been published and checked. At this point, Barclays deleted all my previous accounts from their banking system so when I applied for the basic account, there was no information about my bankruptcy. When I log in, I see offers to upgrade my account and an offer of a credit card to help rebuild my credit rating with pay wave (at 27% APR). I'm not yet discharged - roll on 18th December!0
